Your Nook HD, Nook HD+, Nook Color, Nook Tablet has a Back button. Here’s how to access it.

Back Button on Nook HD

Almost every page has a white strip at the bottom of the page. This is the Navigation Bar/System Bar. At the left of this is a left-pointing arrow (<-). Tap it to go ‘Back’ to the previous screen.

Some Apps might be full-screen Apps. Here there are usually two options

  1. Press on the screen (usually pressing on the center works) to get the Navigation Bar or the App’s own navigation bar.
  2. Press the N button once. This is the physical N button below the screen of the Nook HD. This will either take you back one screen, or bring up the Home Page.

Note: In the browser there are left and right buttons near the title bar.

Back Button on Nook HD+

Again, almost every page on your Nook HD+ will have a System Bar at the bottom for navigation. It will have a ‘Back’ arrow at the bottom left which looks like <- and which you can press to go Back.

If that bar isn’t present at the bottom of the screen you can press the N button to exit to the home page. In some Apps the N button will function as a Back Button.

Note: Pressing <- on Apps will exit the app and close them. Pressing N button will take you Home but the App will keep running.

Back Button on Nook Color

The Nook Color has 4 different ‘Back’ options -

  1. There is a black strip at the bottom of the screen on most pages. This is called the Quick Status Bar. If you slide your finger from the right edge of this bar to the left it works as a Back button. just slide from the battery life indicator to the left edge.
  2. The Quick Status Bar will sometimes have a Backwards pointing Arrow in it. Tap on this to go back to the previous page.
  3. Press the physical N button below the screen to Get the Quick Menu. Click on any of these to go to those pages. This isn’t exactly a back button but it’s helpful.
  4. Press the physical N button twice to go to your Home Screen. Again, this isn’t a back button but it’s very helpful.

Back Button on Nook Tablet

All the same things that work on Nook Color work on Nook Tablet.

How can you take a screenshot on the Nook HD, Nook HD+, Tablet, Color?

1) Press down the Volume Down button and the physical N button at the EXACT same time.

2) For Nook Color and Tablet – this is enough.

2b) For Nook HD and Nook HD+ – You have to keep them held for 2 seconds.

Press and hold both at the EXACT SAME TIME. Then keep them pressed for 2 seconds.

You will see a screenshot preview and then it will go away. This confirms a screenshot has been taken.

Nook HD+ has the physical N button at the front of the device. It’s below the screen and looks like a lower case N.

Press and hold both at the EXACT SAME TIME. Then keep them pressed for 2 seconds.

Please Note: The Volume Down button on the top edge of the Nook HD+ is slightly hard to press. So ensure you have pressed down hard.

You will see a screenshot preview and then it will go away. This confirms a screenshot has been taken.

At the bottom right of the Quick Status Bar at the bottom of the page you’ll get a little photo icon. You might also get a sound notification. This means the screenshot has been taken.

Press and hold both. Hold for a second or two.

After 2-3 second at the bottom right of the Quick Status Bar at the bottom of the page you’ll get a little photo icon with ‘Screenshot Taken’ written next to it. There will also be a quick sound notification. Please Note: This happens after a few seconds. Not immediately.

Where to find your Nook HD, Nook HD+, Nook Tablet, Nook Color screenshots?

Nook Tablet and Nook Color – Plug your Nook into your PC. Go to the ‘Screenshots’ folder on your Nook.

Nook HD and Nook HD+ – Plug your Nook into your PC. Go to the Pictures>Screenshot folder on your Nook.

 

Here’s how you can use Copy Paste in Nook HD and Nook HD+ -

  1. When in the browser or in an app that has text or when writing a note in a book – Press down on a word and hold for 2 seconds.
  2. You will get the word highlighted with bars to the side of it. You can move these bars to highlight a larger portion.
  3. At the top right of the screen will be some options – Cut, Copy, Paste.
  4. Tap on Copy to highlight the Selection.
  5. *****
  6. Now go to another app or to another place where you can write things.
  7. You can either tap and hold on a place where writing is allowed. This will bring up a Paste button which you can tap to Paste.
  8. OR you can tap and hold on a word. Again, you will get the sliders. You can choose your text selection and then overwrite it with what is copied by tapping Paste.

Copy Paste allows a lot of flexibility.
